		<description>Very informative article.  I was unaware that diskpart rounded the output.  Have you discovered any way to handle the alignment of the system partitions on VMs running OSes prior to Windows 2008?  Any sort of template or preparation that can be done so that system partition is aligned?</description>

Let Windows decides what&#039;s best.
The disk alignment is just a starting point, what&#039;s more interesting is the allocation unit to use on the NTFS partition.
The allocation unit mostly depends on the requirements of the application who is using the partition. Consult the application documentation to find out the sweet spot.</description>
